An exceptionally beautiful antique Ottoman brass pen holder from the late 19 century, with inkwell "qalamdan/divit".
Qalamdans are used by calligraphers to store a brush or quills in the long container and dry ink in the square container, very practical specially when traveling.
Inscribed with islamic motifs on the backside and ink well and a woven design on the front.
The ink well and pen holder both have hinged lids, one with a shell motif and the other with a finial.
Measurements: 8 1/2 in (22 cm) x 1 1/4 in (3.5 cm) by 1/2 in (1.5 cm)
